Acento takes Life Cycle Responsibility. In effect, we take environmental responsibility for all assets leased through us by making the contracts climate neutral by buying CO2 Quotas (Gold Standard). We then pick up the equipment at contract termination, issue a data erasure certificate (Blancco) and reuse suitable equipment in the Nordic countries. When the equipment no longer is suitable for remarketing, we destruct hard discs and ship the hardware for recycling at a WEEE Value Center.
Remarketing and Recycling
It had to be both - not just one. Although the main public focus has been on recycling, we feel that it more useful to the community and to prospective buyers (for example for educational purposes) also to offer remarketing of equipment with a terminated leasing contract.
Therefore, we have established marketing channels through Circle-IT AS directly to about 5.000 potential end-users in schools, telephone sales and net stores. We clean out all hard disks before installing the desired OS and programs with updates.
When the equipment becomes obsolete, we also take care of the recycling. This is done at a WEEF recycling centre which has all the certificates and approvals needed to recycle all categories of electronic waste.
